U7 Program - players 5 and 6 years old
Registration
- Opens June 01 of the current season and closes August 14 of the current season

Season Start Up
- TBD, previous seasons after Thanksgiving
- Practices will be as per the Initiation Program and requires a large amount of volunteers o Interested parties for volunteers can go to Be a Coach | BC Hockey
o Volunteers must register online through their Spordle Account
Practice Times
- Previously Saturday and Sunday for all Groups
- Additional ice times for those who are interested will be added to the website by mid-November
Games and Tournaments
- All games will be cross ice
- FSJMH will apply to host a home jamboree for U7 if there is a weekend available.
Gear
- Timbits jersey will be provided once Groups have been determined
- FSJ Minor Hockey will have a donation table with free gear
o located outside the Minor Hockey office which is in the Pomeroy Sports Centre
- Questions about hockey gear - Ernie's Sports and Canadian Tire can outfit new players
FSJ Minor Hockey follows the Cross-ice program developed by Hockey Canada.

There can be concerns from parents about how small-area games may impact their child’s hockey development, but parents should trust Hockey Canada and its research. Putting young players into a competitive environment too early will compromise their development; they need to be placed into competitive situations that suit their age-specific abilities. This is why Hockey Canadas Long-Term Player Development Model is so important.
Dividing the playing surface is a decision that has been made in consultation with experts in athlete development. It is important to understand the benefits of cross-ice hockey and why Hockey Canada has a national policy ensuring all Timbits U7 hockey is played in smaller, modified spaces.
